Meet one of our Case Managers, Leo Soria! Leo is a staple at Freedom Through Education and has been with the organization since 2018. Leo journey started in his youth, using violence and drugs to deal with his anger-issues. After years of being in and out of prison, Leo finally lost himself to his addiction and as a consequence his wife asked for a divorce. At that time, Leo had been in his addiction for 12 years, and the loss of his wife and two kids was the motivation for his change. After struggling with his shame and guilt, Leo found the church and dedicated himself to helping men like him, struggle with psychological pain, addiction and bad habits. After reuniting with his family, Leo and his wife served 7 years as ministry leaders at Celebrate Recovery program at their church before he was encouraged to become a Drug Counselor. In 2010 Leo went to The California Association of Addiction Resources (CAARR), and in 2012 he attended Braining Institute where he received his Register Addiction Specialist (RAS) Credentials.

Leo takes great pride working with participants, especially those in the drug and alcohol addiction groups due to his experiences. He feels privileged to watch so many of our participants learn social skills, self control, responsibility, and gain the chance to reunite with their families.
