Meet our Maintenance Assistant, Vernon Julius! Vernon originally came to Freedom Through Education as one of our participants in 2018 after his release. During his time in the program, Vernon dedicated himself to volunteer work with Freedom Through Service, continually going the extra mile for the community. Vernon completed our program and moved into self-pay housing before suffering several medical issues and becoming disabled, but it has yet to dampen his spirit. In 2020 Vernon became a permanent staff member as our Maintenance Assistant and continues to do his best for FTE despite his physical limitations.

Vernon is a testament to previously incarcerated individuals resilience and the ability for people to make the choice to change their lives for the better. Vernon is dedicated himself to our mission and continues to inspire those around him.
